Elderly Australian reaches final destination at BKK

On a Tuesday night at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok an 82 year old Australian man was found dead in the arriving passengers terminal. His body was sprawled across six seats that had been pushed together on the second floor of the arrival terminal near Gate 8. Fellow passengers reported his situation to Airport officials around 8pm.

He has been identified as Wohlmuth Gerard.

It was estimated that the elderly gentleman had been dead for at least three hours before being found. Airport officials sprang into action, working with the local police to secure the area where the man had been discovered. His body was transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine post-mortem examination.

The Australian Embassy in Bangkok has been informed and the man’s next of kin informed.

Police don’t suspect that anything other than natural causes led to the man’s death. They speculated that the man arrived on a flight on Tuesday afternoon and decided to lie down after feeling ill.
