An elderly Swiss man has been critically injured and remains in a coma following a road traffic accident in Pattaya.
73 year old Andreas Geisbuehler was on his way to purchase his medication when his three-wheeled electric scooter was struck by a car as both vehicles were crossing an intersection.
The accident happened on Friday morning, April 19, but Mr Geisbuehler’s Thai wife, Samrit Geisbuehler, is bringing it to the attention of the media again as she believes the authorities are not doing enough to prosecute the car driver, who it’s understood has refused to take responsibility.
The accident was captured on CCTV and shows an Isuzu car colliding with Mr Geisbuehler’s scooter as he crosses an intersection in the Khao Talo area of Pattaya. The elderly Swiss man sustained severe injuries and was rushed to hospital, where he remains in a coma in the ICU.

His wife has criticised the car driver, saying he has refused to accept responsibility and has not offered any apology or financial assistance to cover her husband’s hospital bills. It’s understood those bills already exceed 200,000 baht and the unnamed car driver says he wants the insurance company to deal with it.
Mrs Geisbuehler has also expressed her frustration at the slow pace of the police investigation into the accident, which has yet to confirm who is at fault. She has appealed to the media to keep the case in the spotlight so that the driver can be held accountable and justice served.
Valid questions remain if the 3-wheel ‘scooter’ the victim was driving is meant to be on the roads or not.
