According to the report, one officer told witnesses that the woman was fainting and that she was taken away to receive first-aid.
During the same visit, another woman held up three fingers, a well-known gesture to symbolise opposition to the government. She was also quickly removed after officials surrounded her and escorted her away.
Not everyone was in favour of expressing anti-government sentiment, with several people in the crowd shouting at the woman and berating her for embarrassing the residents of Ban Pong.
It’s understood that a member of the press who was present took photographs and filmed the incident, with officials subsequently asking to see his press pass and questioning his reasons for filming.
The PM was visiting Ratchaburi to check on the progress of various government projects in the province. Political debate is heating up in Thailand ahead of the general election, which is expected to be held on May 7.
The PM has already dropped hints that he could dissolve the House of Representatives following a Cabinet meeting scheduled to take place on March 14.
