The body of a Russian tourist who went missing after a tragic speed boat accident near Koh Larn’s Tian beach in Pattaya Bay on Monday evening has been discovered on the island. Rescue officials made the announcement on Wednesday morning.

Local villagers from Koh Ban found the body, believed to be that of the missing Russian, washed ashore on a rocky stretch of beach, approximately 70 metres from the site of the boat collision at Tian beach. They alerted local police.

The victim had sustained severe cuts on the neck and left shoulder, likely caused by the speed boat’s propeller. Authorities have transported the man’s remains to the Police General Hospital in Bangkok for a detailed autopsy.

Before the body was transferred to Bangkok, a Thai woman positively identified the victim as “Enrike Rakhman”, the missing Russian. The body of the man’s Thai girlfriend, identified only as “Narada”, had been recovered yesterday.

The 19 year old skipper of the speed boat has been in police custody since yesterday, facing charges of negligence leading to the deaths of two individuals. Local media reported that the speedboat was travelling at speed through an area reserved for swimmers.
