Police in Pattaya are investigating  the death of a 72 year old Dutch man, whose body was discovered at his condo on Tuesday evening, February 20.

Khaosod English reports that the man, named only as ‘Ronald’, was found dead at a room at the Grande Caribbean condominium building on Thapaya Road, in the Bang Lamung district of Chon Buri province.

The dead man was naked and lying face down on the floor. Officers noticed a mysterious hole in his throat, which looked like it had been caused by a sharp item. Police are waiting for the results of a forensic autopsy to determine if the man was stabbed,  had received medical treatment or if it was self-inflicted.

An examination of the building’s CCTV footage showed that the Dutch man entered his room on Friday, February 16 and was not seen again until his body was discovered by a security guard.

The guard had gone to the room after a resident complained about a foul smell on the fourth floor of the building. When the guard tried to enter the dead man’s room, he found it was locked. Using a spare key to unlock the door, he found the Dutch man’s body and called the authorities.
