Thai police have been described as “the best in the world” by a Spanish tourist who got his missing camera back from Don Mueang Police. The high praise was shared on social media by Phattharasaya Rirkrat, deputy inspector of Don Mueang Police Station, according to a Nation Thailand report.
According to Ms Phattharasaya, Denison Mendes, a Spanish tourist travelling with his girlfriend, told her he can’t thank the Thai police enough. Officers had managed to locate a camera and hard drive containing photos of their trip after the couple left it behind in a taxi.
Ms Phattharasaya says that Mr Mendes told her that once back in Spain, he plans to spread the word about the help he received from Thai police officers. She says Mendes had tears of gratitude in his eyes as he thanked her, having travelled to Don Mueang police station from Phuket in order to collect his camera, two lenses, and the hard drive.
In her TikTok post, Phattharasaya quotes Mendes promising to inform the Spanish embassy of the greatness of the Thai police, so they can let other Spanish tourists know.
“Spanish people must know that not only Don Mueang police, but all Thai police, are the best cops in the world. Tourists who come to Thailand must know that they will be safe. You are the best cops in the world.”
Nation Thailand reports that on September 7, the Spanish couple arrived at Don Mueang Police Station to file an official report in relation to their camera bag, which they had left in a taxi earlier that morning.
They did not have the licence plate number of the taxi, but told officers they had taken it from a bus stop at the top of Vibharadi Rangsit Soi 13, to go to Don Mueang International Airport.
Officers checked CCTV footage of the area and were able to identify the taxi and subsequently, the driver. He arrived at the station on September 11, saying he’d been trying to track down the couple.
