Thai Airways has launched its flight schedule for winter 2022 – 2023, with more flights being offered on routes to India, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Thai – Indian diplomatic relations. But the sum of Thai Airways flights for the winter schedule has not increased much at all with some routes removed or frequency reduced.

TTR Weekly reports that the national airline bosses presented the schedule at a conference attended by local travel and cargo agencies this week.

Also in attendance were representatives from the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the India-Thai Chamber of Commerce as well a number of other government bodies.

From the end of this month, Thai Airways will resume flights from Bangkok to Hyderabad and to Kolkata from January 1, 2023. The carrier also plans to introduce 22 additional flights to New Delhi and 11 flights to Mumbai, along with daily flights to Chennai Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Hyderabad. In total, Thai Airways will operate 61 flights a week from Bangkok to 6 Indian destinations.

The airline’s subsidiary, Thai Smile, will operate domestic flight connections for Indian passengers arriving at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport. There are number of other airlines also increasing connections between India and Thailand.

Indian tourism has been a massive success in Thailand as the travellers, only 3 – 5 hours from Thailand, have made up for the shortfall in other traditional tourism feeder markets at this time.
