A Grab driver in north-east Thailand has delighted diners at a Khon Kaen bakery by performing a musical number while waiting for his food order. According to a Nation Thailand report, the driver sat down at a piano and began playing and singing a song, to the delight of customers. A clip of the performance has gone viral on social media after being posted by the Pastella Studio bakery.
In the video, the driver (still wearing his helmet) can be seen tinkling the ivories and signing a song while the bakery’s customers respond with loud applause. The bakery has responded saying it was delighted someone had played the piano, inviting any other closet pianists to come and have a go.
“It was exciting to hear the piano, which has not been played for more than 25 years.”
The clip, on the bakery’s Facebook page, has now been viewed over 304,000 times, receiving nearly 10,000 reactions and over 500 comments so far. Thai music star and pianist Saksit “Tor” Wetsuphaphon has praised the unnamed Grab driver for his performance, while netizens have speculated that he must have been a musician in a past life.
