The Thai PM has met with Formula One boss Stefano Domenicali to discuss Thailand potentially hosting the Grand Prix.
Srettha Thavisin met with Mr Domenicali at Government House, saying he hoped the visit would allow the CEO of the Formula One Group to see Thailand’s potential for hosting the high-profile race. The PM says his administration fully supports the idea, adding that he hoped Mr Domenicali might also be able to seek out potential venues during his visit.
Srettha says hosting the Grand Prix in Thailand is part of the government’s policy to create opportunities that showcase the country’s ability to host high-profile international events.
The PM has expressed his confidence in Thailand, saying the country’s manpower and facilities, coupled with the hospitable nature of the Thai people, would allow it to put on an impressive show.
His meeting with the Formula One boss followed an earlier online meeting that took place during the PM’s visit to France last month.
Meanwhile, the Bangkok Post reports that the Formula One boss has expressed his company’s excitement at being in Thailand. Mr Domenicali says he’s hopeful the Formula One Group can work with the Thai government to achieve the goal of holding the race here.
So where do you think they could hold such a race with all the demands of road quality, access to parking, space for crowds, etc?
