Video footage of a Thai-speaking woman going “berserk” in an upmarket store in Taipei has gone viral after it was shared by a Taiwanese news channel. Taiwan, and its capital, are popular tourist locations for Thai tourists.
According to a Thai PBS World report, the incident took place in Taipei 101, Taiwan’s tallest building. In the video, which is time-stamped July 1, 2024, the woman can be seen both inside and outside a branch of Charles and Keith, which sells bags and shoes.
She then begins rambling incoherently in Thai, before picking up and throwing items from the store’s display racks. When a staff member attempts to restrain her, she becomes more aggressive, with security personnel and police quickly arriving on the scene.

The Taiwanese TV channel TVBS shared the footage, which left mall shoppers bemused.
“The woman suddenly became irrational while walking in the mall. Many shoppers were astonished by her peculiar behaviour.”
With the footage now going viral, both in Taiwan and Thailand, speculation has turned to the woman’s true nationality. Many say she is obviously Thai, but others deny this, suggesting she has a Thai boyfriend and has learnt the language. Other Thai media outlets have reported that she is a Thai ladyboy.
According to the report, the woman was transferred to the Songde Branch of Taipei City Hospital, as the authorities suspected she was under the influence of drugs.
