A collision between a big bike and a motorbike in Phuket has left 3 people dead and one seriously injured. The Phuket Express reports that the accident happened in the early hours of yesterday, March 24.
Chalong Police were notified of a collision between two bikes on Wiset Road between Rawai and Chalong Circle and arrived on the scene with the emergency services.
They found a blue Yamaha and a white Honda lying on the road next to each other. Nearby were the bodies of 2 foreign nationals and a Thai woman. They were identified only as 36 year old Mr Kristofer (Russian), 52 year old Mr Magnus (Swede), and 44 year old Mrs Kanokkan (Thai).
A seriously injured woman who was named as 18 year old Ms Phattharawarin was given emergency first-aid at the scene before being rushed to Chalong Hospital.
According to police, the big bike was carrying a foreign man and a Thai woman, heading towards Chalong roundabout. The smaller, white motorbike was carrying a foreign man and a Thai woman travelling in the same direction.
The big bike then collided with the smaller bike, although it’s unclear exactly how or why the collision happened. The authorities are now checking CCTV footage from the area to determine the exact cause, while liaising with the victims’ embassies in order to inform next-of-kin.
