David Goldthorpe, a 65 year old retiree from Edinburgh, is still missing in Thailand, where he was vacationing to celebrate his recent retirement.
Scheduled to return to Scotland last Sunday, concerns arose when he failed to board his connecting flight in Phuket to Doha, Qatar, and then onto his home port of Edinburgh.
Goldthorpe headed off on his trip on April 12, spending a week in Bangkok before heading to the holiday island of Phuket. His last contact with his family was on May 1 at 3:30 am. Authorities in Thailand and Scotland are investigating his disappearance, while the UK Government and embassy officials are in contact with Mr. Goldthorpe’s family.
He was last spotted in Phuket last Wednesday, according to police.
Described by his family as “out of character,” his daughter, Hayley, has been actively seeking help and sharing his photo on expat groups on Facebook. Daughter-in-law Kate Goldthorpe expressed their concern, stating, “It is not normal for him to not contact his daughter, Hayley.”
“Any information or sightings should be directed to Police Scotland or the British embassy in Thailand.”
Standing at 174 centimetres, David Goldthorpe is single and had eagerly planned this holiday post-retirement, according to his family. They urge anyone with information or sightings to reach out to Police Scotland or the British embassy in Thailand.
Relatives are deeply worried about Goldthorpe’s whereabouts, as he has not been heard from in five days since missing his flight home from Thailand. They plea for assistance in sharing his information to aid in locating him.
Another relative posted on Facebook…
“After some odd messages and then silence, we haven’t heard from our uncle for five days. He has been on holiday in Thailand but police confirmed he never made his flight home. Please share as we are incredibly worried about him.”
