An American tourist has died at a hospital in Phuket after being rescued from the water when he got into difficulty while snorkelling. According to a report from the Phuket Express, the unnamed man had gone on a snorkelling trip to Phang Nga with his daughter.
Father and daughter took a speedboat from Phuket to Koh Khai, in between Phuket and Krabi, on November 22. While snorkelling, the man got into difficulty and had to be pulled from the water by other people on the boat. He was then rushed to hospital in Phuket, while CPR was performed.
The man was subsequently pronounced dead in the hospital emergency room. It’s understood the tourist had underlying health problems, which a tour guide at the scene says complicated CPR efforts.
According to the report, the tourist arrived in Phuket from Hong Kong on November 18. The authorities have not released his name until the relevant next-of-kin have been informed.
