Double trouble MATE. Phuket police have arrested an Australian man who has skipped paying his hospital bill AND ended up overstaying his visa by 34 days.
The unnamed 26 year old was arrested at a hotel in the Kathu district. It’s understood he’d been involved in a traffic accident with a Thai woman on January 31, 2024, when both parties were injured.
The Australian was treated at a hospital in Phuket Town, but subsequently fled without paying his bill. The hospital filed a police report for the 178,185 baht owed. It’s understood the man was also liable for paying damages to the Thai accident victim.
According to a Phuket Express report, by attempting to avoid the authorities over the payments owed, the man ended up overstaying his visa.
