Strong winds have led to life-threatening conditions in the Andaman Sea, with beachgoers in Phang Nga warned not to swim at Khao Lak beach. According to a Nation Thailand report, the beach, in the district of Takua Pa, was closed to swimmers yesterday as “torrential rain and strong winds created dangerous swimming conditions”.

As with Phuket, Phang Nga has had heavy rainfall since Saturday night, with parts of the Phetchkasem Road between Takua Pa and Khao Lak beach flooded. A number of residential properties and businesses along the road have also been inundated.

The Thai Meteorological Department has warned of more heavy rain to come between now and Friday, due to the monsoon trough over the lower south of the country. Waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are expected to reach up to 3 metres in height.

Take care everyone.
