The body of a foreign woman has been found floating off Freedom Beach in Phuket.
The Phuket News reports that the body was discovered floating in the water on May 1. Karon Police were alerted at around 2.45pm.
The body was that of a woman of colour, around 25 – 30 years old, about 180cm tall and with short, black curly hair. She was wearing a shell bracelet on her right wrist, along with a seashell necklace, but no clothing.
Rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Foundation retrieved the body and brought it ashore in a rubber dinghy. A subsequent examination of the body found no signs or injury or any indication of a struggle.
The body has been taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for further examination, but at this stage, police believe the woman drowned and hope to identify the body through the use of genetic testing.
