The body of a Senegalese man, who went missing while swimming at Phuket’s Freedom Beach, has washed ashore two days later.
The tourist, named as 22 year old Cheikhonuna Be, had ventured into the rough sea with 3 friends last Friday, July 28. After getting into difficulty, the 3 friends were rescued but Be could not be found.
The Phuket Express reports that a search party consisting of around 10 rescue divers and lifeguards was launched, but the search was aborted due to strong winds and waves.
Yesterday morning, at around 6.50am, the man’s body washed ashore at Freedom Beach. His identity was confirmed at Vachira Phuket Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Phuket authorities have once again urged people NOT to go swimming in the rough seas that are common at this time of year.
