Suga, a member of the hugely popular K-Pop band, BTS (and winner of the Best Group Award 2022 at the American Music Awards), has shared a vlog of a recent trip to Phuket with his fans. The vlog was recorded during his solo world tour, promoting his latest album, D-Day, according to a report by Web News Observer.
Suga, as it happens, travelled with 5 Star Marine.
Despite being on a hiatus (2 members of the group are now serving their compulsory military service in South Korea), individual members are still keeping the ARMY happy by posting their solo projects or trips abroad (ARMY is the name for the world BTS fandom).
According to Wikipedia, Suga’s real name is Min Yoon-gi and he has many strings to his bow, as a rapper, songwriter, and record producer. His D-Day album entered the US Billboard 200 at number two, which means he’s tied with his BTS bandmate, Jimin, as the highest-charting South Korean soloist of all time. The other five members of BTS are RM, Jin, J-Hope, V and Jungkook.
BTS has won broken a string of music records and been the first K-Pop band to truly break through music’s ‘bamboo ceiling’, breaking into the US music market and being nominated for, and winning, Grammys and American Music Awards, and has the third highest Number One debuts on Billboard, ever.
The singer has curated a number of holiday highlights to share with fans, including a snorkelling trip to Koh Phi Phi – on a yacht, of course. While there, he also visited the Viking Cave, where birds’ nests are harvested for bird’s nest soup.
Suga also singles out the delicious Thai cuisine he enjoyed, sharing footage of various dishes he tried in Phuket. Tom Yum Goong served with rice noodles proved a firm favourite, with Suga describing it as the best hangover cure to have with a beer. We’re not sure the hot, spicy, and sour soup has ever been described like that before…
The vlog also shows Suga enjoying some fresh watermelon after a swim in what he said was the saltiest water he’s ever experienced. Fans were quick to describe that piece of footage as “Watermelon Suga High”, a reference to the Harry Styles’ song, “Watermelon Sugar High”.
There’s more footage of the Korean singer on a beautiful, quiet beach, after which he goes to a local coffee shop, but chooses to have a coconut water instead of anything caffeinated.
