Police in Phuket have arrested a Canadian man for drug possession and working without a work permit.
In a statement issued yesterday, April 21, Chalermchai Hirsawat, superintendent of Patong Police Station, confirms a 41 year old Canadian was arrested in Patong. The authorities have not named the suspect, who allegedly possessed a quantity of ecstasy and cocaine.
According to a Phuket Express report, the arrest followed an undercover operation carried out by Patong Police. The man was apprehended at his hotel on Thawiwong Road.
Arresting officers also seized 2 ecstasy pills and 0.30 grams of cocaine, along with two copies of Thai banknotes which had been used in the undercover operation.
The Canadian faces charges of working without a work permit and possession of illegal narcotics for personal use.
