A Filipino man has died after crashing his motorbike into a power pole in Phuket. The collision occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, February 25.

Patong Police were notified just after 4am and arrived on the scene in front of the Aspery Hotel on the beach road in Patong. Also on the scene were rescue workers, who found the dead Filipino man, named only as 48 year old ‘Mr Allen’. He had sustained serious head injuries. Nearby lay a damaged motorbike that had collided with a power pole, according to police.

The dead man’s body was transferred to Patong Hospital, where an autopsy will be carried out. It’s understood Mr Allen worked as a DJ at a bar on Patong’s Bangla Road.

One eyewitness told police that the DJ was driving his motorbike along the beach road in Patong when he collided with a power pole. He then fell from the bike and died at the scene.

The authorities are liaising with the Philippine Embassy to inform next-of-kin.
