A huge fire has ripped through a motorbike shop in Patong, destroying 25 bikes, with damage estimated at over 3 million baht. The motorbike rental business was located on Na Nai Road in Patong.

The Phuket Express reports that firefighters at Patong Municipality were alerted to the blaze at around 2.40am yesterday, July 19. Firefighters and 5 fire engines were deployed to the scene.

According to the report, it took half an hour to get the blaze under control, due to the strong winds at the time. The property has been totally destroyed, along with 25 motorbikes.

A noodle shop close by also sustained damage. It’s understood there was nobody in either shop at the time and no injuries have been reported.

The authorities believe the fire may have started as a result of an electrical short circuit. However, forensics officers are investigating further to confirm the exact cause.
