Two foreign nationals have been found in possession of illegal magic mushrooms in two separate arrests in Phuket.
The Phuket News reports that an American woman was arrested at a checkpoint in Kamala after officers found she was carrying a quantity of the Category 5 narcotic.
The woman has been named as Karima Salah Mohamed It’s understood she was a passenger on a motorbike being driven by Khaled Mohamed Abobakr, a 27 year old Egyptian national. After searching the bike and the couple’s belongings, police found 2.8 grams of magic mushroom in a clear plastic bag.
The American woman was arrested and taken to Kamala Police Station to be charged with illegal possession of a Category 5 narcotic.
Elsewhere on the island, a British man was arrested in Patong, also in possession of magic mushrooms, according to a Phuket Express report. The unnamed 33 year old was detained outside a restaurant on Phra Baramee Road after officers found 1.10 grams of magic mushroom on his person.
He has been taken to Patong Police Station to be charged with illegal possession of a Category 5 narcotic.
