A foreign national, wanted in connection with the murder of a Russian man in Chalong on Tuesday or Wednesday, has reportedly flown out of the country.

Immigration officials have confirmed that the suspect, understood to be a male and from Tajikistan, named as Bakhtovar Murozoda, left Thailand on Tuesday, March 12. He is wanted in relation to the death of a Russian man, who was killed at a rental property in Chalong.

He was staying in the house at the time of the murder, according to police.

Local residents told police that in the days leading up to the murder, a number of foreign men had been fighting in front of the property, which was being used to grow and sell cannabis.

Police believe a disagreement over the cannabis business may have led to the Russian’s violent death. He was found with his throat cut and several wounds to his neck and body.

Immigration records show that on Tuesday, the prime suspect fled the country on Turkish Airlines flight TK172 to Istanbul. The authorities are now compiling evidence in order to request an arrest warrant and an Interpol Red Notice to have the man extradited to Thailand.
