Four vehicles collide in north Phuket leaving a messy pork sandwich

A four-vehicle collision in the northern Phuket district of Thalang left pork products scattered across the main thoroughfare of Thepkasattri Road. The collision occurred at around 10pm on Monday, January 29, and appears to have been the result of one driver losing control of his pick-up truck.

There were two pick-up trucks, a car, and a minivan involved in the incident.

The driver of one of the pick-up trucks told Thalang Police that he was travelling northbound in the left-hand lane. He wanted to move to the right-hand lane but says another vehicle was close by. He then lost control of his truck (inexplicably) and crashed into a car, also travelling north.

Thalang Police say the pick-up truck then crossed the central reservation, crashing into another pick-up truck containing a shipment of pork, before hitting a minivan travelling south. According to the report, 4 passengers in the minivan sustained minor injuries, as did two other drivers.

Police have launched an investigation into the collision, to decide what legal action will be taken. The authorities have not released the names of any of the affected parties.
