A 19 year old Israeli man has been taken into protective care after he was found naked and bleeding in Cherng Talay on Wednesday night, July 25. The Phuket News reports that the man was found with a large, bleeding wound on his hand at the Caltex petrol station in Baan Pasak at around 10.30pm.
Staff at the petrol station called the authorities and the deputy chief of Cherng Talay Police, Sutham Rattanasawangwong, arrived on the scene accompanied by a number of officers. Rescue workers from the Cherng Talay OrBorTor’s office also attended the scene and found the man clad in a towel provided by petrol station workers.
According to the Phuket News, the man appeared to be hallucinating. He was given first aid for the large cut on his right hand, but it took officers a long time to persuade the man to let them take him to hospital.
It’s understood the man had been staying at a nearby apartment, while studying Muay Thai at a boxing camp near Bang Tao Beach. Police went to the man’s accommodation to get him some clothes, his wallet, and his phone. While there, they found blood in the stairwell leading to the apartment, which was on the fourth floor.
Inside the man’s apartment, belongings were scattered across the room and the glass door leading to the balcony was smashed. Officers also found antidepressants in the room, which had been issued by a private hospital.
The man is still believed to be in protective care and officers have launched an investigation.
