“Why he would try and re-enter Phuket is anyone’s guess”.

A Malaysian national who allegedly broke his bail conditions 7 years ago has been re-arrested at Phuket International Airport.

The Phuket Express reports that the 58 year old man was initially arrested 7 years ago on ketamine-related charges on the island. He was then released on bail but went on the run, failing to show up for his court hearing. The Malaysian is believed to have then fled Thailand via a natural land border.

On Monday, January 8, the man was re-arrested in the Arrivals area of the international airport terminal after flying back into Phuket. Why he decided to do this is not clear. The suspect, whose name has not been released by the authorities, is accused of possession of a Category 2 narcotic.
