Police have arrested a suspect for helping a convicted criminal flee a hospital where he was receiving dental treatment. The 28 year old, named as Suthiwat ‘Norn’ Khunnarong, was arrested in the central province of Ratchaburi.
Meanwhile, the prisoner he allegedly helped to escape, is still on the run. Chavalit Thongduang was serving a sentence for robbery and possession of illegal firearms. He is considered armed and dangerous and the Department of Corrections is offering a reward of 1,000,000 baht for information that leads to his capture.
The commander of Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Prison and three prison officers have been transferred to the Department of Corrections as part of an investigation into how Chavalit managed to escape and whether or not he had help doing so.
