Man rescued before jumping off Phuket’s Sarasin Bridge

Tha Chachai police

A man was prevented from jumping from Phuket’s Sarasin Bridge yesterday around lunchtime. Emergency responders and volunteers were able to coax the man off the bridge before jumping. Sarasin Bridge is the dual bridges linking the island of Phuket with the Thai mainland at the north end of the island.

Tha Chatchai Police were notified around 1pm. When they arrived they found a “stressed and emotional man” standing on the side of the bridge.

Police contacted some emergency volunteers who were able to finally convince the man to come down from the side of the bridge. He was taken to the Tha Chatchai Police Station before police contacted his relatives.

Police have not released any further details about the man.
