Officials are investigating after some mysterious debris washed ashore at Karon Beach in Phuket and in the Takua Pa district in Phang Nga. According to a Phuket Express report, the chief of Karon Police, Khundet Na Nongkhai, was informed of the first discovery by lifeguards yesterday, August 30.

Is it space junk? Is it from a fishing vessel or an aircraft?

The large piece of silver and black debris weighs around 200 kilograms and has a label codes and blue wires attached to it. It has now been secured with ropes, with representatives from the Royal Thai Navy and Phuket International Airport trying to identify where it might have come from.

The Bangkok Post reports that similar debris has washed up at Bang Niang Beach in the Takua Pa district in Phang Nga (between Phuket and Khao Lak). According to that report, the material is fibreglass and resembles part of an airplane or spacecraft.

What do you think it is?
