Patong Police have arrested a man they allege was stealing fixtures and fittings from closed hotels and other buildings on the island. The man is accused of stealing water taps and wires from the properties, according to a Phuket Express report.

The man has been named only as 30 year old Mr Kom. It’s understood he was arrested at a building on Patong’s Phra Baramee Road. Arresting officers also seized taps and equipment used to unscrew pipes.

Patong Police were acting on reports from local residents that a thief had been breaking into closed properties in the area and stealing items such as water pipes, taps, and wires. Mr Kom was apprehended as he was exiting a closed building on Phra Baramee Road.

He was taken to Patong Police Station, where he faces charges of night theft and breaking and entering into accommodation without permission.
