Police in the central Phuket district of Kathu have arrested a couple who had over 27,000 methamphetamine pills (“yaba”) and nearly a kilogram of crystal meth (“ice”) in their possession.

The Phuket News reports that officers arrested 39 year old Wirawong “Nueng” Noichan, registered to an address on Prabaramee Road in Patong, and 31 year old Bulin “Fon” Decha, living at an address in Kathu town.

Both suspects were detained at an unregistered rental room in Kathu on Sunday, July 23. At the time of their arrest, they were in possession of 27,503 yaba pills and 905.98 grams of ice.

Officers from Kathu Police also discovered a homemade handgun and three .38-calibre bullets, according to the Phuket News. A car and 6 motorbikes were also seized during the arrests.

It’s understood that the couple has confessed to owning the confiscated drugs, admitting they ordered the narcotics for sale and distribution in the Phuket area. Both have been charged with joint possession of drugs. Wirawong has also been charged with possession of an illegal firearm.
