Phuket hotel evicts foreigner who threatened taxi driver with knives

A Ukrainian-Portuguese woman who threatened a Phuket taxi driver while holding knives behind her back has been evicted from her hotel. But not from the province (at this stage anyway).

Khaosod English reports that the hotel in the sub-district of Rawai evicted the woman, claiming she had a history of causing problems and was disturbing other guests.

The woman, named only as Nadiya, first hit the headlines after refusing to pay a female taxi driver who dropped her off at the hotel. When the driver followed her into the hotel demanding payment, the tourist took 2 knives from a nearby kitchen area and began threatening the woman.

The driver then reported the matter to Chalong police, who arrested the foreign woman and charged her. However, according to the report, following her release from court, the tourist returned to her hotel with her small dog and took over an area of the lobby, where she slept on a sofa and ate and smoked marijuana.

There are also claims that Nadiya entered other guests’ rooms and was seen climbing balconies. The hotel says some guests were so disturbed by her behaviour that they cancelled their bookings and checked out early.

In desperation, the owner of the hotel posted on social media, asking for help.

“What can we do about this? We’ve already contacted the local police and the tourist police, but nothing has changed.”

According to the report, on Sunday, April 7, hotel staff told Nadiya she had to leave the hotel. Before leaving, she gave staff a phone number, telling them, “If I’m not alive tomorrow, call my brother.”

It’s understood she then collected her belongings and left with a foreign man.
