A 47 year old Chinese woman will be deported and blacklisted for future entry into Thailand after being arrested in Kamala and found to have overstayed her visa by more than 3 and a half years.
Social media had reported that she’d been begging at petrol stations along the ByPass Road last week. Immigration police eventually tracked her down to her lodgings in Kamala where she was arrested for 1,316 days of overstaying her visa.
Meanwhile, Phuket Immigration have announced the results of a month-long crackdown on foreigner visas.
Most of the people caught had overstayed their visas and another 117 weren’t registered correctly in the place they were living, including fines for 8 of the owners of the accommodation.
People were also nabbed for using their visas for a purpose not intended for their visas.
Here are the current fines for overstaying and reporting yourself to Immigration…
• Overstaying less than 90 days will result in a fine of 500 baht per day (maximum 20,000 baht).
• Overstaying more than 90 days will result in a 1 year ban from entering the country and a fine of 20,000 baht.
• Overstaying for more than 1 year will result in a 3 year ban from entering the country and a fine of 20,000 baht.
• Overstaying more than 3 years will result in a 5 year ban from entering the country and a fine of 20,000 baht.
• Overstaying more than 5 years will result in a 10 year ban from entering the country and a fine of 20,000 baht.
But if you’re caught by Immigration officials…
• Overstaying from one day to one year will result in a 5 year ban from entering the country and a fine from 500 to 20,000 baht.
• Overstaying more than one year will result in a 10 year ban from entering the country and a fine of 20,000 baht.
