A bar owner in north Phuket has been arrested for selling shisha, also known as baraku… and illegal in Thailand.
The Phuket Express reports that the authorities confiscated 4 sets of shisha at the unnamed bar in the sub-district of Chergntalay, in the Thalang district. Cherngtalay has seen an enormous surge of population and new businesses over the past year.
The owner, also unnamed, was taken to Cherngtalay Police Station to be charged with possessing unpaid tax tobacco, and illegally selling forbidden imported items, including shisha and vapes.
His arrest occurred during a raid of the bar, where a number of foreigners were found smoking shisha pipes, also known as hookahs.
