Chergntalay Police have charged 4 taxi drivers with threatening a Grab taxi driver in north Phuket at the weekend.
The charges follow an incident on Saturday, February 17, when Jakkree Thummee arrived to pick up passengers at the Maya Beach Club on Bangtao Beach.
While waiting in his car for the passengers to exit the venue, a tuk-tuk arrived, blocking his exit. Four men then approached his vehicle, with one of them inviting him to “come outside and clear things up with me.”
Jakkree says their threatening manner prompted him to call the police, but by the time officers arrived, the men had left. The shaken Grab driver subsequently filed a formal complaint with Chergntalay Police.
The Phuket Express reports that 4 taxi drivers have now been charged with threatening the Grab driver. However, the authorities have declined to provide their names.
The drivers face a fine of up to 10,000 baht and/or a maximum prison sentence of one month.
