Police in Phuket are trying to trace a foreign tourist who abandoned a jeep on Kamala Beach after it got stuck in wet sand. And the tide was rising!

Around 9.30am on Sunday, March 3, Kamala Police were notified about a bright green rental Jeep that had been abandoned on the beach. It’s understood the vehicle had become stuck in the shoreline sand.

Officers arrived on the scene to find one of the Jeep’s wheels was firmly embedded in the sand. However, the vehicle was eventually removed before the tide rose enough to swallow up the car.

A local man, named as ‘Amit Amor Islam’, share a live feed of the incident, explaining that locals had tried to advise the tourist not to drive onto the beach.

The tourist in question is believed to be Chinese. Officials now plan to speak to the Jeep’s owner, thought to be a local rental company, in an attempt to find the person who was driving the Jeep at the time it was abandoned.
