Police in Phuket have questioned an American citizen after a stable worker accused him of sexually assaulting a pregnant horse in Thalang.

The Phuket Express reports that a stable employee, named only as 50 year old Mr Chatchot, made the claim on Sunday, March 10. Mr Chatchot, from Pak Klok, in the northern district of Thalang, told Thalang Police that he had carried out a routine health check on a 10 year old pregnant horse earlier the same day when he noticed she had been abused.

He then checked the security camera, which showed a foreign national in the stables. According to the report, the sexual assault was captured on camera and has gone viral online after being circulated to a number of animal welfare groups.

It’s understood an 18 year old American national, named only as “Stephen” has been identified as the perpetrator. It is not known if he is a tourist or has been living on the island. The authorities summoned him for questioning over the incident.
