A snooker club in the central Phuket district of Kathu has sustained heavy damage after a fire broke out at the venue. Natthaya Supannapong from Kathu Police was alerted to the fire at around 10.45am on Monday, December 18.
Police and firefighters rushed to the club, where they found lots of smoke coming from the venue. Access to the skinny road is hampered by student and local traffic and many speed bumps. The snooker club is located near the Phuket campus of the Prince of Songkhla University, a popular haunt with students.
Firefighters managed to get the fire under control and there have been no injuries reported. However, the club’s snooker tables were destroyed. The estimated cost of damages has not been confirmed by the authorities or the club’s owner, who hasn’t been named.
Forensic police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
