Police in Bangkok have apprehended an American national accused of damaging a rental villa in Karon, Phuket. The Phuket Express reports that the arrest was confirmed by immigration officials on Monday, September 4, after the man had left the island but was found renting a property in Bangkok.

The man was arrested after the unnamed property owner filed a report with Karon Police. The suspect has been identified only as 41 year old ‘Mr John’, an American citizen.

The owner of the rental property claims the American damaged the villa, presenting police with CCTV footage as evidence. It is not known exactly how or why the suspect caused the damage.

When Karon Police were unable to find the American, a nationwide arrest warrant was issued and the Immigration Bureau notified, to prevent the suspect from fleeing the country.

Mr John was subsequently found at a condominium building in Soi Sukhumvit 11 in the Watthana district of Bangkok. He has been arrested and taken back to Phuket to face charges at Karon Police Station.
