A female foreign tourist has been sexually assaulted at a Phuket bus station, according to a Phuket News report. Ekawat Iadchuthong, an employee at Phuket Bus Terminal 2, on Thepkrasattri Road in Rassada, alerted the police after the woman reported the assault to him.
According to Ekawat, the woman came running up, saying she’d been sexually assaulted by a Thai man in the women’s bathroom, yesterday morning, January 31.
Ekawat notified the police and officers arrived at the scene to speak with him. The woman had already left as she had been in a hurry to catch a bus to Surat Thani, in order to reach her final destination of Koh Pha Ngan.
It’s understood the alleged culprit works for a bus company. Phuket City Police have launched an investigation and were at the station yesterday speaking to potential witnesses and checking CCTV footage.
