Repairs have been carried out to a broken drain in Phuket Town after a pregnant woman injured her leg when she became partially stuck.
According to a report on Newshawk Phuket’s Facebook page, the unnamed Thai woman was walking along the footpath on Patipat Road in Talad Nuea, in the company of her brother, when her right leg became stuck in a broken water drain.
It’s understood the incident happened yesterday, July 25, outside a famous Phuket noodle shop. Staff at the shop say they had previously put a traffic cone over the broken drain to alert pedestrians. However, they were asked to remove it by police.
According to the staff, many people have fallen into the broken drain, which they point out is the property of the city and not the noodle shop.
Newshawk Phuket says the injured woman called on officials to take responsibility for her injuries and to repair the broken drain to avoid anyone else getting hurt. It seems officials have now responded to at least the second request.
