Two people killed, three injured in separate road accidents in Phuket

Two people have died and 3 others have been injured in two separate collisions in Phuket yesterday morning, May 1. According to a Phuket Express report, a teenager has died at an intersection in Thalang district, after running a red light on his motorbike and colliding with another bike.

Police and rescue workers arrived at the scene at the Baan Kean Intersection on Thep Krasattri Road, to find the body of an unnamed 17 year old, with a severe head wound. The other bike rider, named as 30 year old Prakaipet Rawattoe, was seriously injured and rushed to hospital.

Two damaged motorbikes were also found at the scene. According to eye witness reports, both riders were approaching the traffic lights at the intersection from different directions when the accident happened.

Police have launched an investigation.

Meanwhile, one person has died and two others have been injured in a second accident, after a car collided with several motorbikes. The incident also happened yesterday morning, in the sub-district of Rawai, killing a female motorbike rider. Two other people sustained injuries after the vehicle crashed into the bikes.

Chalong Police arrived at the scene on Saiyuan – Naiharn Road, where the 29 year old car driver, named as Chatchai Jinda, was waiting. His damaged sedan was nearby, along with two damaged motorbikes.

The injured female victims have been named as 31 year old Pattama Boon auk and 44 year old Taeweewan Boonsuk. Both have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while 27 year old Apinya Saleewong was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to witnesses, the two bikes were approaching from the opposite lane before the car collided with them. Chalong Police have launched an investigation to determine if legal action will be taken.
