Police at Phuket International Airport have arrested a Russian man for alleged involvement in an attempted murder.
The Phuket Express reports that the unnamed Russian was detained in the Arrivals Hall of the airport yesterday morning, December 25. It’s understood the 53 year old was wanted on suspicion of the attempted murder of another foreign national.
According to the report, the exact charge the Russian faces is that of causing another person to commit offence by compulsion, threat, hire, asking as a favour or instigation. It’s understood the crime relates to the shooting of another Russian national.
The police have not released any other details of the crime. However, the Russian was taken to Cherngtalay Police Station for legal processing and not to Sakoo Police Station, near the airport, which would indicate the crime took place in Chergntalay.
Earlier this year, in June, a Russian man was shot while sitting in his car at the Boat Avenue shopping area in Chergntalay. The victim survived the shooting and a Kazakh man was subsequently charged with attempted murder.
