Some drama for Phuket Airport after a man, wanted by police in his home country of Spain, was arrested at the terminal, according to a report from the Phuket Express.
The unnamed 36 year old Spanish national was arrested after arriving on a flight from Singapore on Thursday, June 22.
It’s understood the man was wanted under an Interpol Red Notice for crimes committed in Spain. He was detained by immigration police in the arrivals area of Phuket Airport’s international terminal.
According to the report, the man is wanted on charges of serial fraud involving millions of baht and many victims in Spain.
His arrest follows another arrest at Phuket Airport, with a man from Kazakhstan detained on charges of attempted murder. That arrest followed the shooting of a Russian businessman in north Phuket.
In that instance, the Kazakh national was attempting to leave the country when he was detained – initially for overstaying his visa.
