A Russian man has died in north Phuket after the motorbike he was riding ploughed into the wall of a house.
The 25 year old, whose name is being withheld pending his next-of-kin being notified, is the second Russian national to die in a motorbike accident on the island in a 24 hour period.
According to a Phuket News report, the latest victim was travelling through Ban Don, in the sub-district of Chergntalay, on Sunday night, March 24, when the fatal accident happened.
Niwat Thimket from Thalang Police says the authorities were notified at around 10pm and arrived on the scene to find an upright Yamaha motorbike wedged between a power pole and the front gate of a house.
The motorbike rider’s body lay on the driveway in front of the gate. Rescue workers from Thepkrasattri OrBorTor and the Phuket Kusoldharm Foundation transported the body to Thalang Hospital.
Police say it appears the man lost control of his bike as he negotiated a curve in the road, slamming into the wall of a house. The bike has been taken to Thalang Police Station as evidence and police are continuing to investigate the accident to officially confirm the cause.
